Wednesday was a sad, moving day. We took the bus to Terezin.Terezin was and is a walled town taken over by the Nazis, first a Concentration Camp and toward the end of the War a Termination Camp.It was the Camp that was dressed up for a Red Cross inspection and got a review that it was a resort Camp. All the dressing was removed quickly after the inspection. This has been depicted in many movies, and there was a large park in the center of town that was the “Park and playground.

There was the Museum with a good film about the Nazi propaganda. The museum was filled with pictures of drawing that the children made, then there name and dates of their life.Too many died at Auschwitz. It is unfathomable how anyone could do this to these beautiful children.I chose not to take any pictures.
That evening we thought it a good thing to pick up the day/night and dress decently(as we could with our carry on wardrobe),and head out to dinner. Our receptionist recommended a local restaurant that she often frequented.WE wanted to experience some Czech traditional food…goulash and sauerkraut….and beer…and delicious beer chocolate cake with frosting even

I would die for!!
Thursday was the bus tour ,doing both options of the route with The Hop on Hop off Bus plus a 1 hour boat tour.It gave a sense of the city(1.4 million) and the history for centuries.
THe tour started from the Old Town Square, beautiful buildings, statutes and places to eat.Very close to the market is the 5th Avenue of Prague with all the usual players.

There are too many churches to count, but it has been known as the city of a thousand steeples. Also there are a multitude of historical building with political and Revolutionary significance. Our taxi driver showed us the site of the demonstrations of the Velvet Revolution in 1989.
On our bus tour,WE passed a stadium that was the size of 14 football fields,150,000 seats and previously had a the Rolling Stones concert with 100,00 people.Definitely not as cosy as the Halifax Commons, even if it was in the rain(remember Michael…haha).

Then more beer, more food and packing for the 7 hour train ride to Krakow. We then crossed the Charles Bridge one more time to have a Czech traditional ice cream cone,Trdelnik….donut ice cream cones.
I am including some pictures of our hotel. It is a very old building, having gone through various iterations. It has many swords on the wall as decorations, and the breakfast room is in the basement, with stone walls and perhaps could use a dehumidifier.Across from the hotel is the Bethlehem Chapel noted for its connection to the Bohemian Reformation and opened in 1391.
